One Cup Coffee Maker

Ah, a one cup coffee maker! It is one of those wonderful modern-day inventions that leaves many with a smile on their face. That said, many want a single cup coffee maker or brewer to as they're hoping for good, gourmet coffee (or at least good coffee) without the messy filters. They also don't want to have to grind their coffee either.

One cup coffee makers give fresh cups of coffee, whenever you want it, with no mess no fuss, and for guys like me (a bachelor) no clean up – and they do it one cup at a time. That for me and some others is ideal.

Okay, while these one cup coffee maker machines may offer the latest in convenience, which is great of course, do they truly give you and me. the discriminating gourmet coffee drinker, what we want?

Let's no, take a look at the types of one cup coffee maker products available to you right now. There are no affiliate links here. Just good information.

Essentially, there are three types of one cup coffee makers:

• Coffee Pod Brewers. This type takes coffee pods. There are numerous types of coffee pod brewers, which are made by a number of of manufacturers.
• K-Cup Brewers - This type of small coffee maker takes K-cup. Currently, you can choose five different K-Cup brewers.
• Tassimo Brewers - These types of coffee makers take T-Discs. Currently, you can choose two T-Disc brewers, the Braun Tassimo and the Bosch Tassimo. Both are popular. Once you have your small coffee maker, you can buy the popular sealed cups or pods of various coffees. These will work with that particular brand and are even sometimes customized for it.

With these type of one cup coffee makers, it's pretty straightforward. You simply insert the K-Cup, pod or T-Disc in the machine. Simple enough. Then, you add water to the reservoir, and press a button. That's it. Once the machine starts, you'll get a cup of freshly brewed coffee -- in about a minute! Not bad. And, there are no disgusting or messy filters to dispose of, which is always nice.

If you're hoping to get a good, single cup coffee maker, then I really think one of these new machines will fit the bill for you and be what you want. If you prefer or really like, I should say, gourmet coffee, which is understandable, this will fill the bill. Many don't want to grind beans just to make a full pot. The best coffee is brewed fresh and is drank immediately. The longer coffee sits out, the more it loses its flavor, in my view.

Another point is if you just don't like to clean up or dispose of coffee pad messes. I don't. This is a big deal usually for one cup coffee maker seekers.

Disadvantages of One Cup Coffee Makers

Not everything is perfect with single cup coffee makers. There are two disadvantages currently.

1. You should know that you will be limited in your choice of different coffees. For some, this is not a big deal, for others, it is. Needless to say, when you have a coffee grinder machine, you have a choice of hundreds of coffees, from stores and online. However, with a one cup coffee maker, there are limitations. You're limited by the number of coffees to choose for the K-Cup, pod or T-Disc format.

2. It's more expensive. If money is tight right now, and it is for a lot of people in this recession, then buying a traditional drip brewer will be more economical for you.

Lastly, if you enjoy drinking different coffees, or experimenting with different coffee beans, you might be better off staying with a traditional coffee maker and grinding your own beans. That said, if you like the conveineice of T-Discs and K-Cups and if you're happy with a more limited choice of gourmet coffees, get yourself a one cup coffee maker.
